From Evan and Josh

We’re Evan and Josh, the two guys behind Very Special Games. Ransom Notes started in Memphis in 2019, on a stack of sticky notes over a lunch break, because we were tired of party games that amounted to reading someone else’s joke off a card.

The magnets fix that. Nobody hands you a punchline; you build one out of whatever words landed in your pile. The game is as clean or as crass as the people holding the magnets, which is exactly how we like it.

This site is our shelf. Every Ransom Notes box we print lives here, next to our other games, with the full contents listed and our own notes on which pack suits which table. The pinboard holds the rules and our hosting habits.

We don’t run the checkout. The buttons on each box open the listing at our retail partner, and the order, payment and delivery all happen over there. What you read here is us; what lands on your doorstep is them.
